Meet the Funeral Directors

Joel and Mary Ellen Reynolds
|
Born and raised in Quarryville, Joel is a fourth generation funeral director. He is a 1972 graduate of Solanco High School. Joel continued his education at Elizabethtown College and went on to earn his degree in Mortuary Arts and Sciences from Northampton Community College. Joel has been serving his community as a licensed funeral director for over thirty years. He is a member of the Quarryville Lions Club and Zion United Church of Christ in New Providence. Joel is also a trustee on the board of the Quarryville Cemetery Association. He is a Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoys playing golf and traveling. Joel and his wife, Mary Ellen (Groff); along with their dachsund Kirby, reside in Quarryville.

Michael and Kara Miller
|
Michael was born in Harrisonburg, VA and raised in Lancaster County. He is a 2001 graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School. Mike knew early in life that he wanted to be a funeral director. At the age of fourteen, he began working at a local funeral home helping with errands, lawn care, vehicle maintenance, and other general duties. Michael graduated with honors from Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA, where he earned his degree in Mortuary Arts and Sciences. He joined the staff at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. in 2009. Michael is an active member of Crossway Church in Millersville, the Lancaster County Funeral Director's Association, and the Quarryville Lions Club. He is an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He enjoys playing golf, biking, and landscaping. Michael, his wife Kara, and their two sons, Andersen and Weldon, enjoy regular evening walks around Quarryville. The Millers reside in Quarryville Borough.

The Late Ivan and Betty Dewald
|
After serving in the Army during World War II, Ivan B. Dewald attended Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia. He opened the funeral home on West Fourth Street in 1966. Ivan, with the help of his loving wife Betty, operated as the sole proprietor of the business for forty-seven years, until his retirement in January of 2003. Ivan and Betty were active in the Quarryville community. Ivan could often be seen working the gas pumps in Quarryville or dining at the family restaurant. Ivan passed away on December 3, 2006.
